May 1st is labor Day in France

Too bad Labor Day falls on a Saturday this year.  Most offices and large stores that are usually open on Saturdays  are closed, otherwise they would have to pay their employees double their usual wage.  Still all small restaurants, bakeries, pastry shops and cafes are open.

All the stores along the Mediterranean in Cagnes-sur-Mer and St-Laurent-du-Var are open since the walk and bicycle path are busy at all times. So I went for 2 hour walk a couple of times yesterday to walk around my new neighborhood. I will be moving into my own little apartment a block away from the beach tomorrow.  This is a good step toward living the Mediterranean lifestyle, isn’t it?

In honor of May 1st, I offer you some lilies of the valley (muguet) to celebrate spring and as a good luck charm.
